Announced: 8/29/2007

Untitled Document

We are pleased to announce that the Aviation Human Factors division received its first fixed base reconfigurable Tiltrotor simulator. The simulator was donated by the U.S. Army’s Aeroflightdynamics Directorate located at the NASA Ames Research Center.

The simulator will be used in conjunction with the Beckman Institute to provide a human factors research facility making University of Illinois the first academic institution to conduct Tiltrotor Human Factors research. Vehicles ranging from the Bell XV-15, the Bell/Agusta 609, and the Bell/Boeing V-22 can be researched using the simulator. The simulator will initially be engaged by Aviation Human Factors Division graduate student David Rozovski for his research testing theories of situation awareness and transfer of training using the simulator in an immersive environment.
