Anderson Scholarship Fund Established

At the Institute, we have just established a scholarship fund in honor of the late Michael Anderson, pilot, research scholar, and astronaut, who died in the Space Shuttle Columbia.  Lt. Col Anderson epitomized the linkage of aviation to research scholarship, the two components that embody the Institute of Aviation. The scholarship will be used to encourage and assist deserving African-American students at the University of Illinois Institute of Aviation, pursuing the Aviation Human Factors degree program. Although our endowment has now reached the level where a minimum annual award can be offered, this amount remains well below that which could fund a full annual scholarship. Thus it is our hope that we can grow this minimum amount to increase the amount of the award, thus the encouragement for African-American students to pursue a career in flying or aviation research. We hope that you will be able to  contribute. If so, please contact us by e-mail with a note of your willingness to contribute (cwickens@uiuc.edu, dchrstns@uiuc.edu). Thank you in advance for your support.
