Dr. von Thaden delivers keynote address to Transport Canada Safety Mangement Systems Information Session

Dr. Terry von Thaden delivered an invited keynote address to the Transport Canada Safety Management Systems (SMS) Information Session in Toronto, Ontario. The title of her talk was Defining and Measuring Safety Culture in Commercial Aviation Operations. Transport Canada holds information sessions to provide details on the implementation of the safety management system (SMS) regulations. Safety management systems represent a systematic, explicit and comprehensive process for managing risks to safety. Each system is based on an operator’s in-depth knowledge of its organization, and integrates safety into policies, management and employee practices as well as operating procedures throughout the organization.
